Child Protection

Keeping children safe is everyone's responsibility. The Child and Family Services Act, The Child and Family Services Authorities Act, and The Adoption Act are designed to protect children and to ensure that the community and families provide for the well-being of their children. The Manitoba government helps by strengthening families to enable children to have nurturing caregivers, by engaging communities to resolve issues that affect the safety and well-being of their children, and by providing a network of care to help parents. Services range from counselling, education, emergency assistance, practical support, treatment and temporary care including foster care while issues are being resolved, or appropriate permanent care including foster care and adoption when reunification is no longer possible.
